Headlining, Celebrating their 20th anniversary, on October 20th, The Swanky Kitchen Band will showcase their music, style, talent and deep roots in Cayman. Come be a part of history…come dance, come sway, come experience a tribute to 20 years of creating music and memories.

Swanky Kitchen Band is the guardian of the Cayman Islands’ indigenous musical genre- kitchen dance music. This dynamic 9-piece band comprises Samuel Rose (fiddle) Nicholas Johnson (guitar), Paula Scott (grater/shakers), Lammie Seymour (bass) Devon Edie, (sax/harmonica), Christopher Seymour (lead guitar) KK Alese- (vocals), Jeffrey Wilson (vocals) and Jared Tibbetts (drums).

They honor their violin-centric roots which can be traced back to the Irish and Celtic fiddling traditions brought to the Cayman Islands by its earliest permanent settlers. But the driving pulse of the music comes from the vibrant rhythms brought across by African slaves. The unique blending of African and European heritage runs through the blood lines of native Caymanians as well as through their beloved kitchen dance music.

Swanky Kitchen Band has crafted a truly unique sound which balances preserving Caymanian heritage with putting a fresh spin on popular music and old standards.

Opening the concert and festivities, our very own Rico Rolando, one of the headliners from the Capella Music Fest this past Spring, will be on stage to start the night under the stars.

Rico, our very own on air personality, recording artist and song writer, has been instrumental in the new wave of Cayman Artists. His talents have set a new standard for connecting with and using Iron Shore Studios for his latest projects. Rico Rolando creates music that is unmistakably new and distinctive by incorporating elements of reggae, dancehall, and Soca and drawing inspiration from the Cayman Islands’ rich cultural past.

He stands out among his contemporaries for his ability to flawlessly meld genres, which enables him to go beyond the bounds of conventional hip hop and discover new sonic realms.
